Oh mi ja wha chae (Oh mi ja punch)
3
tablespoons oh mi ja* (Maximowiczia chinensis) |
200
ml
(about 3/4 cup) water |
1/2 cup
sugar |
|
400
ml water
|
1/4 Asian
pear |
1
tablespoon pine nuts |
Wash oh mi ja, drain, add
200 ml(3/4 cup) of cold water, let sit for over night. Strain(I use coffee
filter, a cheese cloth will not work~), discard the fruits
and keep the water.
Add 1/2 cup of sugar to 400
ml water, stir well. Mix with oh mi ja water.
Peel pear, slice, cut out
the shape with a cookie cutter.
It can be kept in the fridge
for up to a week or two. Just add lots of ice or water,
and serve. It's sweet and sour and the color is pretty... a
wonderful drink for the summer. Kids love it, too~^^
* Oh mi ja is one of the ingredients
from Chinese medicine.
It is good for thirst quench and relieving exhaustion.
When it's boiled or in warm water, they taste bitter and very sour, so soak
in cold water.
